broken links in emailed pdf

New Here ,
May 12, 2020 May 12, 2020

My company has created a PDF with links in Acrobat Pro.

These links work perfectly until the document is emailed to another employee.

If the employee opens the PDF document from their email, all links are broken.

How can we fix this?

additional note: all employees have access to linked files on the network

Thanks

I mean the properties of the link, not the documents.

Correct.  This ONLY happens when we email the document to our employees. When we open the document from its folder on the network, all of the links work perfectly.

How do we fix this?

We should have the ability to share our document with employees. When a change is made we would like to email it out.

Are you telling me that emailing an existing PDF document with links, breaks the links within it?

There is no way around this?

Where is the document stored when you create the links?

It is stored in a folder on our marketing drive. (within our network)

All of the linked documents are together in a folder on our network as well.

I just dont understand why all links break as soon as the document is emailed.

You have created relative links. When someone opens the file in the email the program can't find the linked files.

You can create absolute links when you put the document on a other drive before you create the links.

Put the document on drive C: and create/modify the links.
