G'day all

Help please? Is there a way to add content to a word/term in a pdf which contains HTMl URL hot link  i.e. either a URL itself or make the word clickable and it takes thee reader to a website please.

This sort of functionality to help users learn more in education would be very useful in education

Regards

Allan

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear.  Not just a link but add a text comment e.g. explain the term and then a link for more info.  Useful to give reader/learner background information  Hope that helps

Sure. You can create a (transparent) button over the word and then set its Tooltip text to the description, and as it's MouseUp action you can tell it to open a web-page.

Use the Create Form command to switch to Form Edit mode on your file. Then select the Add New Field tool, and select Button.

Draw the button over the text. Then right-click the button you just created and go to Properties.

The tooltip property is located under the General tab. Set it to the popup text you want to display when someone hovers over it:

Then go to the Appearance tab and set the settings there. You can set it to be completely transparent, or to have a thin border, etc.

Now go to Actions and select the Mouse UP trigger, and the "Open a web link" action:

Click the "Add..." button and enter the URL you want the button to link to. It should now look like this:

That's it. You're done. Click on Close and exit the Form Edit mode. Hover with the mouse above the button and you'll see that the cursor changes to a hand with a pointing finger and that the tooltip text you entered appears. Click it and the URL you entered will open in your browser.

Thank you for your effort and help.

I am able to follow this and make it happen ... great!  I see how this works and I don't want to sound ungrateful but it seems limited in that you can only put one link per comment and the comment disappears immediately you move your cursor.

Maybe I should ask Adobe for a feature wish. i.e. For when you add a text comment which opens on the side of the document when you  click on it, the text content in that pop up window has the ability to add URL links.  This way teachers can add further references to content. It would be helpful to be able to add maybe multiple references (hotlinks) to different text.  Sort of like a short bibliography in a pop up window that stays open after a trigger is clicked on the document.

I live in hope but again I appreciate the help
