Let‘s add to this: it is Apples choice not to allow virtual printers. Adobe can do nothing about this.

The irony is not lost that the whole notion of a PDF is to unify the handling, viewing and printing of a document... and there are still barriers like this.  Some of us work on varying platforms, depending on the customer, etc, and having a tool in one that is not in the other can become quite frustrating.
