Question

Can I use Prepare Form without OCR

I have a legal document to which I would like to apply form fields, but I do not want the text of the document itself to be editable. When I use Prepare Form to apply the fields, it also runs text recognition so that a slip while monkeying with the form fields could easily change some document text. Is there a way to use Prepare Form without OCR?

Turning off OCR will make the form not accessible to assistive technology and it'll still be editable by anyone with Acrobat. If you don't want the underlying document to be editable, my strong advice is to use Acrobat Security to prevent modification of the PDF but still allow form filling.

Try this: Disable the automatic field detection.

Thank you. I found that dialogue box but the option to disable is Auto-enable Text Editing in Prepare Form. That worked perfectly, many thanks!
