Can stop Acrobat from telling me "What's New"?

This is driving me crazy. After this last update, the "What's New" window keeps opening whenever I launch Acrobat, and it just slows everything down. Which, is so annoying when I just need to open a PDF. And it makes me look like a bananahead when I'm trying to share a PDF on a meeting, and have to mess around with these crazy windows. Literally wasting everyone's time. Acrobat is one of my favorite programs because it's so easy, it's fast, I don't have to worry about any nonsense. Why would I? I'm just looking at a PDF! Please tell me there is a way to turn this off. I appreciate the updates, and I know you have to let people know what they are, but the incessant pop ups have to stop. Send me an email blast. Whatever it takes. I'm begging you.

If there is a way to turn all of that off, please, someone let me know.

This worked for me!

Thank you.

Well it stopped working for me.  Here is what I did for it to finally work.

  • Click on Run and type regedit then get to this area:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

I added a dword on the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bWhatsNewExp and then I right-clicked and choose Modify and added 1 for the value data.

  • I added another dword on the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bTryNewExp and then I right-clicked and choose Modify and added 1 for the value data.
  • Then I did this below:
  • Find Adobe Acrobat in your Programs. Right click the program icon, click 'Properties'.
  • Click the 'Compatibility' tab >  under 'Compatibility mode' > the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7' I checked the box and clicked "Apply".
  • Then I Clicked the 'Compatibility' tab >  under 'Compatibility mode' > the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8' I checked the box and clicked "Apply".
  • I unchecked the box and then clicked 'Apply'.

It FINALLY WORKS NOW!!! I'm not getting any pop up messages.

I'm in the same boat, tried the registry setting with is Fing rediculous btw, users should NOT be in the registry, but it doesnt matter, because it doesn't work.  Unchecked the preference items only to have the recheck themselvs automagicly, how does that happen?  Getting really frustrated with Adobe!

Adobe Support just gave me a new reg key to try.

Open regedit - get to this area

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

Please add a dword here in the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bWhatsNewExp and set the value of it to 1

It has worked on the one machine that nothing else has worked on so far.

Hi, I believe I have found a solution for the issue!

  • Find Adobe Acrobat in your Programs. Right click the program icon, click 'Properties'.
  • Click the 'Compatibility' tab >  under 'Compatibility mode' > the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8' box was checked.
  • I unchecked the box and then clicked 'Apply'.
  • I then rechecked the box with Windows 8 option selected and then clicked 'Apply'.

This fixed it for me! 🙂 Hope this helps someone else...

Someone MUST know the answer to this. Wholly unacceptable when sharing a screen pdf to suddenly just have the (totally annoying) rotating wheel

Wake up Acrobat and hear our frustration

I have watched this stupid What's New like 100 times.  How do you stop this dumb screen from popping up every time you open a new pdf.  It is beyond dumb.  It is crazy.  i deal with pdf all day.  Yes i download your stupid apps.  Stop the pop ups.

Please fixt this ASAP.

Yeah, that's a PITA. Preferences>General>Show me messages from/to Adobe and uncheck "Show me messages when I launch Adobe Acrobat" seems to have fixed it at least for the moment.
