Can't Edit a PDF Form - XFA Form

I am trying to edit a pdf fillable form which I created prior to obtaining adobe acrobat and now I am getting this message when I try to edit it: " this XFA form cannot be edited using abobe Acrobat".  what can I do to be able to edit the form?

You will need Adobe LiveCycle Designer or AEM Forms (as it's known now) to edit this file.

The former used to be bundled with Acrobat, but that's no longer the case.

You can print this form as a PDF and then edit it with Acrobat, but this will remove all form fields and scripts. You will therefore need to recreate everything.

Please also note that it is not possible to print a PDF as a PDF on a Mac due to restrictions imposed by Apple, you can only do this on a PC.

Another option might be to save the pdf as an optimized pdf, flattening the form fields.
File> Save as other> Optimized pdf> Discard objects> Flatten form fields. If that works, you can then re-create the form in Acrobat, understanding some features from the existing form might not be available in Acrobat.
