Can't figure out how to crop a pdf doc

New user and not terribly computer literate. I have a pdf doc that I need to crop and I cannot get it to do so. I have a 3 page doc I want to crop to one page. I click the edit button, and the crop button and then I drag the cross-hairs across the portion I want to save, then I double click on the outlined part and the crop window shows up. I click ok, and the document is  still 3 pages and nothing has been cropped. I've been screwing with for an hour and cannot figure out how to do this.

The problem is that "cropping" means something very specific in the PDF world (changing a page's boundaries), and it's not deleting pages...

Use the Organize Pages tool (or the Pages panel) to select the pages you want to remove, then click the Trash Can icon, or press Delete to remove them.

The crop tool doesn't combine 3 pages to 1 page.

I'm not trying to combine 3 pages. I want to delete 2 of the pages, so I want to crop one of them.

The crop tool doesn't delete pages. Use Organize Pages for this.
