Can't save pdfs

In the last few days, my program has stopped letting me save pdfs. When I click save, it the box that pops up is either completely black or completely white. If I hit it enough times (15-20), I can sometimes get it to pop up with the options of where to save it. I know I need to restart my computer to finish installing the latest version, but I can't restart it until I save the 3 pdfs that I have up and that I can't get to save. Catch 22! Please help!
