Can you make the shading on form fields go away after form is filled?

I have my fields set to "no color" on the Properties:Appearance settings but when the form is being filled in they do appear as highlighted boxes (kind of a light blue color) and after being edited and saved the shading behind the text still appears.

It would be ok if I could remove the shading completely or set it to disappear after the field is filled in - whichever is easiest.  

Thanks for any advice.

This is a setting of the application that the user can turn on or off to highlight fields.

It's possible to control it with a script, but it's not a good idea, as that would also affect all other files.
