Cannot add a Radio Button to a Form without a choice being added to a previously created radio group

I am working with Acrobat, and want to add several radio button groups to a form. Works fine when i create the first radio button group, after this, when I click on the Radio Button control on the left, it adds a choice to the radio group that already exists? I've tried copying, but get error message saying cannot create multiple copies of this selection. One or more fields in the selection have duplicates in this form.

This error message makes no sense. There are not duplicates.

How do I create multiple copies of radio groups? I've tried everything. So far, I have to close down the form, reopen it, then I can add a new radio button group. But, this takes a long time and surely this is not the way it works.

Thanks ahead of time for help.

I finally got it.  Click the "Hand" tool.  Another extra click that wasn't needed under the old UI.

"it adds a choice to the radio group that already exists".  Rename the Group Name in the popup:

Is the error you are seeing is from the  Right-click > create multiple copies  function.  You can't create multiple copies this way if there is more than one radio button with the same group name.

I was using the new view of Acrobat and do not have this interface. I disabled the new view and went back to the old view and this worked. In the newest version, the radio button tool is on the left, when you click it to bring a new group into the form, all that happens is a new choice is added to the prior radio button group. I could not find a way in the new interface to create a group, then create the choices. Thanks

I don't use the new UI because it's horrendous.  I suspect what was happening was this:  For "Prepare Form" it defaults to what used to be called "Keep tool selected" for form fields.  Every time you click another radio button it adds another with the same group.  If this is what was happening, the way around is to press Esc to exit field adding.  Then go into the properties of the field and change the name of the field.  I haven't been able to find out how to shut off the "keep tool selected" mode, either by looking around in the UI, or looking on this forum, or by asking an Adobe employee on this forum.  Anybody?

I don't use the new UI, as I said in my question. Regardless, do you know how to disable 'keep tool selected' in the new UI?

You have posted a screenshot of the new UI. There is no such option.

It defaults to on.  There has to be a way to turn it off.

I know it's on the old UI.  I know where it is.  I know how to use it.  I can disable it all day long on the old UI.  The new UI defaults it to on.  How do you turn it off in the new UI?
