I am repeatedly encountering problems with my Acrobat Pro. When I try to open a pdf file in Acrobat Pro, I get one of the following messages:
- "Bytes not ready"
- "File cannot be converted to PDF" (it already IS a PDF) (yes, I have tried the Portfolio option--it doesn't work either)
- Nothing. Nothing happens at all.
I have tried the "window>tile" fix--nothing.
It also will not save a PDF I've worked on. I get either an I/O error or another "Bytes not ready." If I close the file anyway, all changes are discarded.
Because of this, I'm unable to:
- save an edited PDF
- create a new PDF from existing PDF files
- open any existing PDF file from my Finder (PDFs from the internet seem to open, but again won't save my changes)
The problem with opening has been going on for at least two months. The save issue is new.
I've checked and my Acrobat Pro is up to date (I have a subscription).
I'm on a 2020 MacBook Pro with M1 chip, 16GB, running MacOS Sequoia version 15.0.1. I had the same issues with the previous two OS updates, so I don't think that's the issue.
Please help. These issues leave me completely unable to do my job.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi @mary_5425
Apologies for the trouble you are facing using Acrobat. I would like to help you with your issue. Is it possible for you to share some test PDF files with which you are getting the issue ?
Regards
Ravi

++Adding to the topic,
From looking at the screenshot, it looks like you're trying to merge a PDF document with another PDF document that was protected (with encryption) or having a digital signature in place.
In which case, if the document with the exclamation mark(on your screenshot) is indeed signed (or is a secured form), the signature must be removed before combining that file with other PDF documents.
