I'm not sure if I have the right forum for this but I just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and now I can't print to pdf in Microsoft Edge. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Sean

Hi
I was using Acrobat Reader XI, but changed to DC to see if it would solve the problem, but it persists.

I know this, thanks. I'm not using it to print to files, I'm using Microsoft's print to pdf.

Concerning that Windows 10 was out for so long and no one from Acrobat checked it out to make sure Adobe Acrobat will work with Edge.
Surprising that no one from the Adobe Acrobat team tested this on a Windows 10 when W10 was available before launch.
Adobe does not give any indication to suggest they are working on this issue.
Further, MS is giving W10 free to any user from 7 so the risk of someone upgrading and losing Adobe Acrobat should be pre warned by Adobe, as it is an Adobe program.
The app company needs to confirm compatibility with platforms with their respective upgrades-as in a common, always worked on tool, as the browser.
I am sure and hope Adobe Acrobat team can release a message of being aware of the problem and a solution in time, while we can work on IE 11 in the interim. Though you want to be able to use MS Edge for its feature to cut out the ads and thus the adobe documents would also be more productive for all- the ads are a leading overbearing distraction- Edge can clean that out and printing same is a luxurious change from IE 11.
Please acknowledge to validate a potential solution in time.
Thank you!

Since installing Windows 10, this has been a real pain. When I print from Edge to Acrobat, after entering my file location/name, I get a little box that pops up and hangs. Here is how I got mine to work:
Devices and printers - Adobe PDF printer - right click - PRINTER PROPERTIES - advanced tab - changed from 'Spool print...' to 'Print directly to printer'.
Now, once I did that, my Edge documents printed to pdf without hanging, BUT they also printed with weird characters. To fix that I did this:
Devices and printers - Adobe PDF printer - right click - PRINTING PREFERENCES - unchecked 'Rely on system fonts...'
Since the change, I have also tried printing to pdf from Outlook, Excel, and Word and things seem to be working fine. Since I'm kind of a fix-it-until-I-break-it-or-have-to-reinstall-Windows kind of troubleshooter, I have zero idea why this is working, only that it is...so far...fingers crossed.

Thanks for sharing, but doesn't work for me. Running Win10 64Bit, upgraded from Win8.1. Still have exact same problem, hangs on converting a webpage to PDF file. Tried opening a story in msn.com, then selecting Adobe PDF as printer, after changing font selection and spooling default in printer and printing preferences. Didn't work at all for me, just replicated the problem. Wonder what the difference might be. Can still print to Adobe printer from other programs, and other browsers, but just not from Edge.

The fix that icefish27 suggested did not work for me either, so I tried a variation of the same theme and got it to work. Thanks icefish27.
These are the settings that are working for me:
Devices and printers - Adobe PDF printer - right click - PRINTER PROPERTIES - advanced tab - kept setting as 'Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster' and changed from 'Start printing immediately' to ' Start printing after the last page is spooled'
Devices and printers - Adobe PDF printer - right click - PRINTING PREFERENCES - unchecked 'Rely on system fonts...'
I do want to see a real fix announced by Adobe so that we do not have to apply these kluged fixes.

Great interim fix, larryvc1...thanks! I notice that there are some formatting marks when converting html docs in Edge, and still some fonts that are goofy in text portions, but at least this will allow me to use Edge and save some of the content. BTW, the key was printing after the last page is spooled, which of course slows the process down a bit. If I need good quality, I'll use IE11 instead; I switched back and forth between checking and unchecking the native font only choice with no apparent difference in the end result, so the Acrobat jam-up was likely not being able to co-process pdf creation and image printing simultaneously. Interesting, would love to hear from Adobe on this as to what the root cause is of the issue.
Like you, hope that between Microsoft and Adobe a fix can be engineered for this weird conflict.
Again, thanks for sharing!

I too have this problem of printing from Windows Edge with the Adobe PDF Driver. My work around was to download another free PDF writer program and it works great. I chose, Foxit Reader PDF Writer. However, I use Windows Edge rarely as possible. My primary browser is FireFox and there are no issues printing to any Print Driver listed in FireFox Print drop-down list.

You are right.
It very much looks like as if I have to use my NuanceSoft Power PDF Standard. It is not free, but it perfectly converts web pages in Edge to PDF, as it should be, and as Adobe should also be able to doing so. I see no point in spending over CHF 748 for an Acrobat DC upgrade which is dysfunctional.

I don't see a reply regarding accessibility. It may or may not have bearing on the original issue. If the PDF employs password security and editing is restricted, there is an option to "Enable text access to screen reader devices ..." If this option (I call it the Accessibility option) is set, Microsoft Edge won't handle it. Remove the Accessibility option and it works just fine.
Microsoft Edge should be able to print web pages via "Microsoft Print to PDF" and display them without issue. The issue comes when trying to use a PDF with the Accessibility option set. HIH.

I could print to pdf in Microsoft Edge two weeks ago using Microsoft print to pdf and never had a problem before. [I used Windows 10 and Edge on this computer since two weeks after it came out.] Suddenly I started get the blank pages in the preview and the pdf files were unreadable. Here is what is strange about the fix. I tried to do the properties fixes suggested in the section and couldn't find anything to change. After I click OK to the Microsoft print to pdf properties without changing anything, then the view pane worked and I could print to pdf. Note: this problem didn't just affect print to pdf. I couldn't print from Edge at all using any printers before this fix. This wasn't a Adobe Acrobat problem. It affected all my printers, even the ones not using Adobe.

This worked for me:
1. Select "Print" in Microsoft Edge
2. When the dialog box opens, instead of selecting "Adobe PDF" select "Microsoft Print to PDF"
3. Once you hit print, you will get the normal prompt to select a folder and provide a file name
4. The PDF will be created and placed in the folder using the file name you selected but the PDF will not automatically open in Adobe
5. If you click on the PDF using File Explorer, it will open as a PDF file in Microsoft Edge not in Adobe
6. However, if you open Adobe first and select the PDF, it will open in Adobe just like any other PDF file
Hope this helps!

My solution is to change the default browser to anything but Edge. When use Explorer 11, Google Chrome, and any MS product or other program all print fine. It is only when using Edge the problem exists. Edge plain sucks. I just do not use Edge and get along fine.
Summary problem is with Edge, everything else works just fine.

yea leave it to microsoft to throw a wrench in the works.
I think everyone needs to abandon microsoft and go a ubuntu linux.
I had to go away from pdf and printing in my database program. I converted mine to a jpg pic and hide my control buttons via java splicing a hide-show function granted I don't need the show part, just the hide.
this is what I had to do inside my php page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#hide").click(function(){
$("p").hide();
window.print();
$("p").show();
});
$("#show").click(function(){
$("p").show();
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<?php
echo '<p><button id="hide">Print</button>';
echo "<a href='printrecs.php' style='text-decoration: none'><button>Back</button></a></p>";
echo '<table align=center ><tr><td align=center><img src="permission.jpg"></td></tr></table>';
?>

I too could not print from Edge. To correct this, I simply changed the printer properties to "Start printing after last page is spooled" from "Start printing immediately." You'll find this setting on the "Advanced" tab as shown below.

For what it's worth, I can successfully print to PDF from Edge. Just tried it, and no difficulties noted.
