I running the latest released (not Beta) version Sonoma on a new Mac and cannot print with Acrobat.  The job goes to the print center, shows up for ~1 sec and then disappears.  No errors.  Printing with other apps works fine, including Adobe apps. Just a problem with Acrobat.  Anyone else seeing this?

Contacted Adobe Support and got the following.  Acrobat not printing in Sonoma is a known bug that has not been resolved yet.  The workaround is to click on the "Advanced" button in the print dialog and choose "Print As Image".  That works... for now.  Note that "Print As Image" is a sticky setting and once checked, will remain on for remaining prints, till it is explicitly turned off.

Hope this helps.

FWIW, I also tried the following:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat
  • Installing Acrobat Reader to use for printing
  • Printing via the root account (test read here)

No joy...

I just uploaded the app again, so presume it is the most recent.  Still does not print double sided.   I can get it to print, but not double-sided.

Likewise no help from Adobe, BUT...

Doing some "old school" poking around, the following allowed printing to resume (at least two documents in a row).

I have yet to confirm whether this "fix" is perserved after restarting computer.

FIX:

1) Close Adobe Acrobat and Distiller

2) Open Finder / Applications

3) Open Adobe Acrobat 2020 folder

4) Move to trash "Acrobat Distiller.app"

5) Open Trash

6) Put Back "Acrobat Distiller.app"

7) Open Acrobat Pro

8) Attempt printing a file (it worked for me, at least in the short run)

Update: After Restarting the computer I was able to successfully print as before. Perhaps this is the "fix" (for now).

Hi stephend78049092 and pokerfacejb,

As you are using the Acrobat 2020 Classic version on Mac OS Sonoma, the fix will be available in a tentative future update.

We will update you once the fix patch will be available. We appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

Are there any alternatives to Adobe Acrobat?  A Mac version of something?  I want to dump AA, this is so frustrating.

I save the file, open in Preview and print from there. No doubt, I am missing some of the advanced print features by doing this but I do not need them.

I updated to Sonoma yesterday and now I can't print from Desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 on MacBook Pro. I get an error message saying "no pages are selected to print" makes no sense. I checked for updates and it shows it's up to date, version 17.0, any suggestions? I checked my account and the license is current.

They did fix this issue but you have to upgrade to Acrobat 2020.

There is a workaround: save your file, open in Preview and print from there.

What Adobe has not fixed is the Text Tool in Sonoma. It still doesn't work and there's no prediction for when it will. I was told that I had to have 2020 for this to work—and then it didn't. No doubt that, when it does in 2020, it will not in 2017.

Well it's September 2024 and this problem does NOT appear to be fixed.  Are the Adobe folks really this incompetent?
