Cant Print from MacBook

I was able to print pdf's with no issue until I purchased the All Apps plan. It updated all the apps and now I cant print pdfs from Acrobat. I go through the steps to print, click on print and the printer appears in the lower right hand corner but only for a second and then disappears again. I don't have any issue printing from other programs. I can print a pdf if I select "Print As Image"  but the resolution is crap.

I am extremely frustrated with the lack of help resources after I spent the money less than 48 hours ago. And with no real way to speak to anyone about it.

Please help.

Thank you.

Chris.

Acrobat does print usually without a problem. I print from a Mac to Brother and Epson printers on a regular basis, and printing works - just as you've confirmed by printing to a Samsung printer. Most HP printers allow print jobs in different emulations to be sent to the printer. Your HP printers may support different versions of PCL for example, and may even support PostScript. If things don't work in one emulation, I would try the others that are supported by the printer. This will very likely require that you download and install a different driver - one per emulation.

You can of course also get in touch with HP's technical support to see if they can help you, but chances are they are looking for the easy way out and will blame Adobe. I've been at that point many times before, only to eventually receive a new driver from the printer manufacturer that all of a sudden fixes that problem that they blamed Adobe for. I've experienced that from more than one printer manufacturer.

Apple sent an update to OS 10.13.5 yesterday June 13, 2018 that fixed a Samsung Printer issue. It also fixed the HP printer issue as well.

All is working well now.

Thanks for all the help.

Cheers

I just found an old Samsung ML-2165. Downloaded the drivers (from HP as they are handling the support for Samsung now) and i was able to print with no issue.

So the issue is with the HP printers.

Anyone else have an issue with HP and fixed?

I can confirm: printing problems are mostly driver problems, especially on a MacOS system. Driver builders use the easy way. They blame the end user products for their omissions. It’s a sad world. Acrobat has bugs, but mostly problems are related to bad printing engines.

The proof to this assumption lies in the target. Pro printers costing a fortune and being used mostly by highly professionals print well, because the builders know that they would loose business otherwise. Consumer printers very often perform badly.

Hi Chris,

As you are experiencing an issue with printing PDFs, try once the troubleshooting steps mentioned here Troubleshoot PDF printing in Acrobat and Reader.

Check if that helps.

Check if there is an update pending. Launch the application and go to Help > Check for updates.

Refer this help document Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader to get information on latest updates available.

You may also try resetting the preferences of the application. Use the steps mentioned here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

If that does not resolve the issue, please let us know if you are using the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or the Adobe Acrobat DC to print the PDFs.

Share the exact version of the application. To check the version number, take help of the steps mentioned here Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC.

What is the OS version installed on your Mac?

We will be waiting for your response.

Let us know if you need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Im running OS 10.13.4

Acrobat V - 18.11.20040.280397

I have the same issue with Reader as i do with Acrobat Pro DC.

I have no issues printing from any other Adobe App ie AI, Photoshop....... Or using Word, Pages, Numbers.......

I can print if I click "Print As Image"

Printer Software is all up to date and it happens with different printers, same issue.

Print as image -> Acrobat does the ripping and sends an image to the printer.

If Print as image is not checked, Acrobat sends printing instructions to the printer and the printer or the printer's driver does the ripping. The odd thing with this is that some printer drivers tend to "correct" the printing code. Sometimes this results in bad prints.

What are your printers? Please double check the printer drivers. Often, the printer manufacturer offers new drivers on their web side and the OS does not know about them.
