Changes in PDF Splitting

Hello, (I don't speak English, Google translation) At my company, I had the old version of Adobe Acrobat Pro (I think 2019), and they updated it to Adobe Acrobat Pro version 2024.003.20112 64-bit. The problem is that in the old version, when splitting the document, it allowed me to select the "same folder" option with the "bookmark names" option. Now, in the new version, I can't do that. The "same folder" option is there, but when I select it, it blocks the "bookmark names" option. Therefore, the task of splitting PDFs becomes much longer and tedious. Selecting the folder manually takes time due to the excessive number of folders and PDF files to split. Does anyone know of a way to revert this change and be able to select the same folder and keep the "bookmark names" option?

I tested it on my Mac and Windows computers, with the new interface and the older interface. Both options were selectable at the same time. (Note: I did not actually split the file, but your problem, as stated, was the ability to to _select_ both options.)

My Mac version 2025. If you are on a subscription, you should be able to update.

Is this the same problem? If it is, Try67 posted a solution 🙂

I think this issue is the OP can't select split by bookmarks, not choose the same folder. The ability to select a split option should not be affected as to what folder is selected.

The problem I had (before I did the suggested fix), and I think same as the OP, went either way.

If I selected same folder, I couldn't select split by bookmarks.

OR

If I selected split by bookmarks, I couldn't select same folder. I had to browse to select the folder where I wanted it saved.

Hello Robert!

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the trouble.

Adobe recommends using the new Acrobat UI, not turning it off, and sharing your feedback or observations on any workflow you feel is not working.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.2043x. Optional update, Mar 19, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/4kJyYdQ

Use the Split Document Tool:

  • Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Go to Tools > Organize Pages > Split.
  • In the Split dialog box, select Output Options.
  • Choose Same Folder and ensure the Use Bookmark Names for File Names option is selected. See this article for more details: https://adobe.ly/4hCULkQ

If the issue persists with the latest version of Acrobat and the new UI, please capture a screen recording of the workflow, share a PDF file, file collect the machine logs and share them with us for further investigation

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Try disabling the new (and buggy) Acrobat UI via Menu - Disable New Acrobat.
