++Adding to the discussion,

You may need to right-click on the signature field and select "Validate Signature" from the context menu.

Depending on the type of document, you may get additional dialogue box with a message "Signature validity is UNKNOWN".

Click on the "Signature Properties" button. This will open up another dialogue window.

At this point, all you have to do is click on thr "Validate Signature" button of this dialogue box. You can hit the "Close" button soon after that.

Then right-click on the signed signature field once more, and you should be able to see the "Clear Signature" option from the context menu.

But if that doesn't do the trick, read tge Notice message.

If you see a message "The signer's identity is unknown because it has not been included in your list of trusted certificates and none of its parent certificates are trusted certificates", you'll need to click first on the "Show Signer's Certificate..." button instead of the "Validate Signature" button that I described above.

Then visit the tabs: "Revocation" and "Trust" respectively. The former tab will provide you with additional methods to check for revocation of certificates and problems encountered, while the latter tab allows you to add these certicates to the Trust Settings.

Using the latter tab option also requires to revalidate the signature certificates after you add them to the trust chain.

If none of these methods work, it is possible that the document is certified with an invisible certificate-based signature. Moreover, it is also possible that the document could've been saved with reader enabled rights and additionally encrypted with password to enforce other Certificate Policies and restrictions.

In that case, you won't be able to clear that signature.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

As the clear signature option does not appear, could you please share the screenshot of the options that appear?

Ensure that the application is updated to the latest version. Also, check if the issue occurs with a particular PDF.

Share the Acrobat Reader DC version number with us. You may use the steps suggested in the following help document to check the version number: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html

Let us know if you need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
