Component Files Portfolios

I am working with portfolios and am wondering, if one of the component files is edited, can that information trickle through to the rest of the component files?

    No, Acrobat does not provide any mechanism that would allow this kind of operation.  And if you could work out a solution, it would only work in Acrobat Pro, since Reader does not allow writing to a file attachment and this type of scripting is not supported by any 3rd party viewers.
