Question

Compression and accessibility

We have a project where PDFs are combined together and then compressed -- the purpose of the compression is to reduce the file size, caused by extra fonts (ie. the same set of fonts are in the combined PDF over and over). Now we're tasked with adding accessibility features to our documents, but we find that the aforementioned compression removes them. Does anyone have experience with compressing documents while maintaining accessibility features -- if so, what did you use?

Compression should have no effect on accessibility. However, you may be inadvertantly removing tagging too. There are many ways to compress files. Please tell us

1. The exact method you use to compress.

2. The options you choose

3. Your software version (not "latest" or "up to date" please, a string of numbers like 11.3.339 or 2016.124.43435).
