convert to pdf slow

When converting docs to PDF via "Adobe PDF" or "Microsoft Print to PDF", both options are very slow to convert regardless of the software. Specifically, the Windows Photo app is the slowest at converting to PDF. I don't need a crazy high resolution. I'm converting simple black and white text documents.

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

 

Microsoft Print to PDF is a MS process and Adobe doesn't have a hold on it.

 

Please try to create the PDF from the Acrobat ribbon present in the MS Word toolbar and see if that works.

 

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.06.20320 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

The docs converted are from various sources (photos, word, excel etc.) and converted by any software is slow including using the print option Adobe PDF which is Adobe's PDF converter tool. Even though the Microsoft PDF converter is Microsoft's program, it still has to interact with Adobe to create an ADOBE PDF. 

This issue affects all files converted to PDF. This is slow whether the file is saved to the network or local drives. 

 

The version I have is 2023.003.20269 and is managed through my work. I'm told that the newer versions you're referring to are in beta and therefore, I do not have access to update them. 

I am trying the repair installation option as I have not tried that yet. I will let you know the status on this. I'm not resetting my preferred settings. I have worked very hard to make sure that all my settings are to my liking. I have not changed anything that would cause a detriment to my document creation. As for creating a new test user profile, that's not an option. They did try to go in and recreate the file with my existing user profile but that was not helpful either. I'm not sure exactly how to say what they did there but it was in the actual registry files.

It appears that the installation repair option may have done the trick. I will monitor and follow up should this continue to be an issue. The Microsoft Print to PDF still doesn't work but at least I can use Adobe's PDF converter. Thanks
