Converting Word to pdf / issues with images

New Here ,
Feb 23, 2022 Feb 23, 2022

Hi, I'm using MS O365 and Acrobat Pro DC on a Mac and I'm trying to convert a .docx file to PDF/X-1a:2001.

After converting the file I'm facing the following issues in the created pdf document:

  • Initial Letter is sometimes not visible anymore
  • images with frames are cropped
  • descrition of images is not visible anymore

What did I wrong?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Werner

Additional Info: Using just the image without frames is working properly and the description is also visible. Problem is somehow connected to images with frames.

Today I changed the output format from PDF/X-1a:2001 to Standard and the convertion is correct, but with PDF/X-1a:2001 it does not work as expected.

Any advices?

Difficult to determine what's causing the problem, but I also noticed a slight color shift between the 2 versions in your graphic sample.

I suspecting it's something about how the Word.docx file was created. When converted to PDF, there shouldn't be any differences from the source Word.docx to the exported PDF, including all of the text still being present.

Try exporting to a better, more recent PDF/X standard. 2001 is 21 years old and quite out of date. PDF/X-4 might give better results.

Thanks for your reply. It seems, that PDF/X-4 is not even offered by Adobe on Mac (see screenshot).
