Customizing and moving side panels

For Adobe Acrobat Pro, how do I customize and move the side panel (lower right). For example, add the marquee zoom icon so that it is always showing? And, is it possible to move the side panel to the top (where it was in the previous version of Pro that I had)?

    I wasn't able to figure this out based on anything at that link, although I possibly missed it. I did figure out how to revert back to the GUI for the previous version, which takes care of the issue, but of course doesn't solve the problem for the new GUI.
