Question

Debugger is freezing Acrobat DC

When I open the debugger (command + J) it delivers the error message "Exception in line 1 of function top_level, script App:Init" and Acrobat is frozen, requiring a force quit. How can this be repaired?

I'm following up on my October 18, '22 post to report how this error message and freezing issue was resolved. Anytime a script that I updated contained an error and the script was called, the debugger opened,  the top left "Scripts" window of the debugger displayed a tree listing my folder level scripts, the debugger View / Console window  delivered the error message "Exception in line 1 of function at top_level ... " and Acrobat froze, requiring a force quit. (Apparently the portion of the error message that reads "function at top_level, script App:Init" means folder level scripts.) The error was no longer thrown after making this preferences change: Preferences > JavaScript then uncheck "Enable JavaScript debugger after Acrobat is restarted."

Thank you, but I looked for that on my Mac and there is no repair installation item on the help menu. I don't find it on any other menu. Searched on Adobe.com and found nothing helpful.

It might be a Windows-only feature. Then you can try uninstalling, running the Cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html#macintosh) and then re-installing.
