Sorry, I should have specified that I was referring to Adobe LiveCycle Designer software. If you're using that to create your form, you can activate the Font window but going to the top-level menu list (at the top of the software), click on "Windows" and then click on "Font". The Font features window will open either to the right or left of your document (per your set preferences).

The question was about forms created with Adobe Acrobat.

Using the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader to fill out a form someone has sent me, I found that the font starts out very large until you fill the whole field and then decreases in size as you add more characters or spaces. The receiver of the form must be use to this by now and is more interested in the information in the field than in the large size or inconsistency of the font sizes. The font size can be reduced and the information centered in the field by added spaces on one or both sides of your inserted text. This really is unnecessary except for maybe keeping a space in between adjacent fields if the left field is filled and the right field starts right next to it making the two fields look like one entry.

This response is more for filling out a form as opposed to creating a form.

I agree. 'Auto' for a text size setting rarely yields the look I am hoping for. I find it better to use a finite point size.
I can't tell you how many times I've downloaded a form for a government website, and the font size is crazy for any given form field!
My best,
Dave
