Default Icon Change

Hello,

I am using the 'new' version of Adobe.

When I open a document, the 'select' icon is the default icon.

Can anyone please tell me how to change this so that the default icon is the 'hand/pan' icon?

Thank you.

Hi @Alexander32046928eafv

I trust you're doing well.

To resolve your issue, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Acrobat's Preferences by going to Edit > Preferences > Accessibility.
  2. Uncheck the option that reads "Always display the keyboard selection cursor."
  3. Click OK to confirm your changes.

After completing these steps, close Adobe Acrobat and reopen it with a PDF document. You should now see the "Hand Tool" as the default option.

Please remember that specific PDF files may have predefined view settings established by the file's owner, which cannot be altered.

Feel free to share your results with us.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello Anand,

Thank you for your response and for taking the time to reply.

I have tried what you suggested; unfortunately, the "Always display the keyboard selection cursor." checkbox is already unticked as default. I have attempted to enable it and then unenabling it to see if that works, but the issue remains the same.

Is there anything else I can try or another way of moving my query forward?

Thank you again for your help.

Regards,

Alexander

Hi @Alexander32046928eafv

Thank you for providing the information.

  • Navigate to "Edit > Preferences > General" in Acrobat.
  • Check the option "Make hand tool select text & images."Ensure the option "Always display the keyboard selection cursor" is unchecked under the Accessibility settings.
  • Close both the PDF document and Acrobat itself. Reopen Adobe Acrobat and reopen the PDF file to check if the issue persists.

Could you please confirm if this issue is occurring with all PDFs or just a particular one?

Additionally, it would be helpful to know the current version of Adobe Acrobat you are using and the operating system installed on your computer.

Thank you,

Anand Sri.
