How do I make Reader choose Portrait format when printing.   It used to be that way but changed to Landscape.  I cannot find a setting to make default settings in Reader.

Hi Nantucketbob,

Acrobat's preferences settings doesn't allow to change the default print orientation.

However, you can try the following steps to set the "Auto portrait/landscape" as the default option while printing any PDF.

  • Open a PDF and click on Print icon.
  • In the Print dialogue box, select 'Auto portrait/landscape'.
  • Click on Print tab at the bottom left to print the file.
  • Now next time you print the file, the option Auto portrait/landscape will be selected by default.

To add to Akki_24 's answer:

When Acrobat starts it reads what the printer has as a default. So it seams to me that you have set landscape as your OS default.
