Question

Developed lenght/ projected distances

Hello,  I work on parts with curved shapes and I would like to measure developed lenght/ projected distances on a PDF 3D file.  For example, on a cylinder I would like to know the distance between two points as if I were using a dressmaker's tape measure (which thanks to its flexibility follows the curves of the piece) but I only obtain the distance as if I were using a rigid ruler. I already did it without doing it on purpose but I tried all the options and I can't get the desired result again.  Could you please help me ?  Thank a lot.  Alexandra

Hi @alexandra_3113 ,

Sorry for the inconvenience!

I have few queries regarding the above ask to understand your requirement in better way:

1. Are you using 3D feature of Acrobat first time?

2. If you were using it earlier as well, were you able to measure the curved length and now, you are not able to measure the same?

3. If you want to measure the curved length, 3D file returns the radius and angles. Using these parameters and by using following formula, you can find out length of the curve:

2πr*(angle returned by 3D file)/360

4. Please share Acrobat and OS version.

Thanks
