This is the best comparison I found (not sure why it's not on Adobe's website...): http://www.greymatter.com/corporate/wp-content/uploads/misc/Adobe-Acrobat-2017-Product-Comparison-ue...

Doesn't address which version supports optical character recognition (OCR). I've spent nearly an ENTIRE workday trying to figure this out. During which I've determined that my environment could have 1 of 15 ****ING versions of acrobat installed FIFTEEN DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE SAME SOFTWARE.

Continuous Acrobat Reader DC

Continuous Acrobat Standard DC

Continuous Acrobat Pro DC

Classic Acrobat Reader DC

Classic Acrobat Standard DC

Classic Acrobat Pro DC

Classic Acrobat Reader 2017

Classic Acrobat 2017  Standard

Classic Acrobat 2017  Pro

Classic Acrobat Reader XI

Classic Acrobat XI Standard

Classic Acrobat XI Pro

Classic Acrobat Reader X

Classic Acrobat X Standard

Classic Acrobat X Pro

What the actual ****. How the heck did there versioning system devolve to such a complicated pile of horse ****.

I work in an industry where we require approval to change software versions so, yes, although XI and X are EOL, I've had to maintain those major versions until I can get approval to upgrade to a newer version. Folks in one my programs are approved for XI but it's not clear here whether OCR is supported. https://www.greymatter.com/corporate/wp-content/uploads/misc/Adobe-Acrobat-2017-Product-Comparison-u...

Adobe Acrobat supports OCR. Acrobat Reader doesn't support OCR.

In the link try67 posted from greymatter, look under the "Edit PDFs" section for "Turn scanned paper documents into instantly editable PDFs" to see which versions support OCR.

One french adage is: Why make simple when it can be complicated?

Maybe CEO of Adobe is French dude !
