Digital Signature Block not working

New Here ,
Mar 13, 2025 Mar 13, 2025

Hi I am having trouble with the Digital Signature Block in Adobe Acrobat Pro. My goal is to create a field that shows the "Sign Here" flag in the upper-left corner, so that when a person clicks the box they are prompted to sign using secure Adobe e-sign with their password-protected Adobe ID credentials.

I was able to add a Digital Signature Block field, however when I exit out of the Prepare a Form menu the field only displays as a regular text field. It allows me to enter text but it does not include the "Sign Here" flag and does not prompt me to sign using my Adobe password-protected credentials. I have followed the troubleshooting steps below. I have also read this related article in the Adobe Community (which appears to be the same problem) but the article does not help me resolve this issue.
Would greatly appreciate some assistance.

The screenshots furher below show the field as I added it, the Properties settings for the field, and finally how the field appears in regular PDF viewing mode (which is not how I want it, I want it to show the red Sign Here flag in the upper-left).

-Pete

  1. Prepared form for signing
  2. Ensured security setttings are not preventing signing
  3. Added the Digital Signature Block field

That is not a digital signature field, it is a text field that is formatted for eSign.  When you go into Prepare Form mode, do not check the box "This document requires signatures".  Better yet, use the keystroke shortcut (for Windows OS) Ctrl + Shift + 7, and it will bypass the screen with the signature check box option.  To convert your form to one without this option, which you can add a digital signature field, click More in the form field panel and select "Revert to Acrobat Form".

HI @BRM Pete

Thank you for reaching out. You need to try this help page: https://adobe.ly/4huiMKB

If you are trying to create an e-sign aka Acrobat Sign compatible form, when you choose the Prepare Form tool, click three dots > "Prepare form fo e-signing"

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Tariq, thanks so much for your reply. Your response helped and I figured it out. I always thought I needed to prepare the form for signing and use the signature block field. I tried just adding the "E-Signature Field" without preparing the form for signing first and that did add the desired field with the "Sign Here" icon. THanks very much!
