Question

Downloaded and installed Open Sans but still not able to edit in acrobat pro.

I was editing the text field but the font was Minon Pro by default and it stated that I did not have Open Sans.  Therefore I downloaded Open Sans from Google Fonts and installed the fonts and now in acrobat pro it does not allow me to edit anywhere it has Open Sans.  I tried to edit the text and nothing, no response.  I changed the font to see if another font would work in the text field but no change.  It no longer allows me to edit anywhere it shows Open Sans.  I've somehow made things worse after installing Open Sans as before I could edit and the font was "Minon Pro", but now I can't edit any text where it shows "Open Sans".   Pls, help.

Hi there, im having a similar sort of problem, clearly this is an issue.

 

I would like to know if you were able to resolve this or find an alternative?  19 documents of 31 pages each are waiting for me and way past due because finding a pdf editor paid or not has been an absolute nightmare.

Have you tried the suggestions in the above response? If not, please try once and let us know if you experience any issues. Ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20693 Planned update, Sept 09, 2025

 

 

If the issue continues, please provide the following information: the current version of the operating system on your device, a sample PDF file, and the logs from the affected machine. To collect the logs, download and run the Log Collector tool. Make sure to select all log options and attempt to reproduce the issue. After that, close the Log Collector tool; it will generate the logs along with a log ID. Please share this log ID with us for further investigation.

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

 

Please try the following solutions, and let us know how it goes:

  1. Ensure the Font is Installed Correctly:

    • Verify that the Open Sans font is installed correctly on your system. You can check this by opening a text editor (e.g., Word) and seeing if the font is available.

  2. Check Font Embedding Permissions:

    • Some fonts have embedding restrictions that prevent them from being used in PDFs. Use a font manager or check the font properties to ensure it allows embedding. If it doesn’t, you may need to contact the font provider or use a different font.

  3. Subset the Font:

    • When editing a PDF, Acrobat may not recognize the font if it’s not embedded or subsetted. Go to File > Properties > Fonts in Acrobat and check if the font is embedded. If not, you may need to subset the font:

      • Open the PDF in Acrobat.

      • Go to File > Save As Other > Optimized PDF.

      • In the "PDF Optimizer" dialog, check the "Embed all fonts" option and save the file.

  4. Recreate the PDF:

    • If the PDF was created from a scanned document, the text may not be editable. Use Acrobat’s OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature to convert the scanned text into editable text:

      • Go to Tools > Enhance Scans > Recognize Text.

      • Choose "In This File" and follow the prompts.

  5. Update Adobe Acrobat:

    • Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Go to Menu > Check for Updates, restart the machine after updating the app.

There is no menu for File>Save as Other>Optimized PDF. Nor is there Menu>Check for Updates

I am following up to check if you are still experiencing the issue with the latest build of Acrobat: 25.001.20643, Optional update, Aug 25, 2025? 

 

Check the Acrobat app, 

  • On Windows, go to the hamburger menu (≡) in the top left → File > Save As Other > Optimized PDF.
  • On macOS, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader > File > Save As Other > Optimized PDF in the top menu bar.
