Drawing markups showing up on every page? Why and how to stop it.

Got some documents from a client.  We are using acrobat pro and need to add comments.  Whenever I draw anything using the drawing markup toolbar, it duplicates the rectangle or whatever tool shape I used to the same position on every page of the document.  Any idea why this would happen and how to disable this "feature"?

How strange. Can you post a screenshot of the document with the comments pane open?

    What happens when you split the document and add comments to the separate parts?


    I tried it and it got rid of the problem, so I went ahead and extracted all of the pages and made a new document, which doesn't seem to have any of the problems of the original. Very strange!
