Question

Embed font interactiv PDF

I have the problem that if I define a font for the interactive form fields in InDesign, this does not work.

The correct font is displayed locally when I type into the form. But if I open the PDF on another computer where the font is not installed, it is not displayed.

This even though the font is specified as embedded in Acrobat.

What can I do?

Thanks a lot!

The fonts panel in Acrobat Properties is not relevant. This is confusing I know. This does not show the fonts used (only) in fields. InDesign should embed the font; if it does not, InDesign is broken and you should avoid this. Stick to Times Roman or Helvetica, or add the form fields in Acrobat.

Use Acrobat. Form fields fonts must be embedded fully. If InDesign is not doing that then it's creating corrupt PDF forms (and not for the first time). It's shocking if this is done on purpose!

So far as I understand it, unless it has changed, you can only use Times Roman for form fields in InDesign. How do you define a different font for them, step by step?

"This even though the font is specified as embedded in Acrobat." What do you mean by "specified as embedded"?

Hi,

If you are setting the font in the "Buttons and Forms" tab, then this is the font to use if available, the embedded font in the PDF is not available for use in the form fields.

That setting is more of a recommendation if the font is available then use it, if not, then use the default.
