When I try to print an Acobat file it defaults to my down loaded documents but will not print it. Why?

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Also, go to Print > Advanced > Uncheck 'Print to File' and see if that helps.

If it still doesn't work, please share the version of the Acrobat Application you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version 25.01.20813. Go to Help > Check for Updates and reboot the computer once. Also share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs for more clarity.
