Error 14 on Mac - is there a fix?

I just installed Acrobat Pro DC on my macbook pro and when I try to open pdf files many of them open to a blank file and an error stating "There was a problem opening this document Error 14".  I have been able to open the files by opening Preview and performing an Export as PDF.  Is there a solution to this issue that doesn't require going into each file to perform this action?  I have hundreds of pdf files on this computer that would need to be repaired manually.

Hi Jcwhidby

We are sorry for the trouble. As described you are getting the error 14 while opening the PDF file.

This error usually occurs due to an outdated application version or due to a corrupt PDF file.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs that you try to open. Please try to open a different PDF file and check.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version of the application please use the link (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html) and make sure you have the latest version 20.006.20042 installed. Go to Help  > Check for Updates.

You may also refer to the similar discussions below and see if that helps:

Let us know how it goes

I figured out a work around for this. Open the document via Chrome by emailing or downloading and click "print". This opens the file in a new window, then instead of printing, select "save as pdf". This cleaned it up and made it work in Adobe again.
