Hi,

Please check whether is there any update available for the software after going through "help > check for updates "

Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat.

This error can be resolved by changing one of the Adobe PDF printer settings.

  • When you are in the print dialog, and you have selected the appropriate PDF printer, select "Properties."
  • In the dialog box, there should be a tab titled "Adobe PDF Settings," and it should look like the below image.

  • Un-check "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts."

Click OK,then quit & relaunch the application.

Let me know if it works.

Regards,

Yatharth

I tried many work-arounds; what finally worked was simply "save as" from within MS Word. D'oh!

Exporting from MS Word worked for me as well.

its really helped me! Thanks.

they say: just export as pdf from ms word , its works ..

but sometime you may want print as specific/custom page layout  and in this particular situation, MS WORS's export as Pdf feature just failed..e.g: If you want to make pdf as 2 pages per sheet style, you can't make with built in pdf maker feature within MS WORD. (although you can print later  2 page per sheet from adobe reader print settings)

Hello Yatharth,

This was very helpful; however, after de-selecting that box, quitting, and re-launching the application, the changes did not save. What else can be done so the changes are saved for the next print job?

With this procedure (disable "Only on...") the PDF is printed, but it modifies the width of the right margins and the left margin disappears. Everything complete (texts and illustrations) but without right margin. Please, any solution? Thank you for your attention!

Solved! I had "see comments" (from the author) activated. I have removed them and everything is perfect. Thanks for the contributions in this Forum!

For anyone coming across this post, this solution still worked for me in 2023, 7 years later. Thanks, Yatharth!

This solution only works for me if I'm only printing a single page to pdf. In an Excel workbook with 2 sheets, it will print the first page to pdf but the 2nd page generates this error log. I can print them individually no problem, but it seems that setting will not apply across multiple sheets. I've set the printer default system wide to leave that box unchecked, but it doesn't make any difference.
Using save as Adobe PDF instead of the print option works, but without fail it shifts margins differently on each page and my pages don't look uniform anymore as they did when created with print to pdf.

I found a different solution to this issue as unchecking "rely on system fonts only" didn't work for me.

Windows button, type: distiller. Select Adobe Acrobat Distiller 2020 (in my case - given I'm using Acrobat Standard 2020)

In Acrobat Distiller - settings menu | Font location | "Add" button

Navigate to: This PC | C: | Users | [your username] | AppData | Local | Microsoft | Font Cache | 4 | Cloud Fonts | Aptos

Press OK

Press the Add Button again and repeat the process for "Aptos Display" and "Aptos Narrow"

Press OK

Settings Menu | Edit Adobe PDF Settings...

On the left pane, click "Fonts"

Under Embedding, Font Source, toggle one at a time to the new locations you've added.

Under each new location: Aptos, Aptos Display, and Aptos Narrow you'll see 3-4 fonts below, such as "Aptos-Narrow," "Aptos-Narrow-Bold," "Aptos-Narrow-Italic. Click them one at a time and then press the "Add-->" button so they appear in the "Always Embed:" box. Once I did this, I had 11 fonts listed there.

Press OK. Distiller will ask you to give a name to this new profile. I titled mine "Aptos PDF Fix" and pressed Save

Make sure at the top of the Distiller window the name of your profile is listed.

Mine says Adobe PDF Settings, Default Settings: "Aptos PDF Fix" -- if that isn't appearing, pull down and select it from the choices.

After closing Acrobat Distiller and trying again, I could finally print Aptos font to Adobe PDF!

I had to remove the latest update as the invalid font TI30EmuKeys did allow my documents to print. I write materials for GED math students and this font is a necessary font.

This worked for me, though the main difference is that restarting Word made the unchecked box change go away. So I did NOT restart Word after unchecking the "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." box, and I was able to FINALLY create a PDF ... #goodgrief
