Every document I scan shows with a black border around it. how do I get rid of this?

We scan a lot of documents and I constantly get a black border around every page.  This does not look professional and I need to know what is causing it and better yet, how to fix it.  I am using Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.

Hi Jon,

I agree, the border is not a good thing.

Sorry but I need more information:

What is your OS and version, what version of Acrobat do you use, what brand of scanner (and model) to you use?

That said, my guess is that it has something to do with some cropping coming from your scanner's software.

To test this try scanning directly from your scanner's software and not through Acrobat. FWIW, Acrobat has no scanning capability at all and relies upon whatever software you have to access the scanner. However, there are times when that interface gets hidden and you may have settings set in a way you do not like.

the point of all this is there is no feature within Acrobat that should be causing that black border and perhaps from within the scanner's software, you can verify where it's coming from. Oh, by the way, if your scanner's software has different modes (beginner (or home), Business (or Auto), and Advanced (Expert), always chose the Advanced/Expert. With that you can see what the software is doing and chose what to select.

I am on windows 7 64-bit. Acrobat Standard DC is the version. I have scanned a document using Scandall Pro and it seems to remove most of the border but not all.

Hi Jon,

Can you do me a favor and check out (and a screenshot would be great) in your settings where you can define the dimensions of the page and the resolution.

I use SilverFast for scanning (so mine will look different) but the thing I'm talking about should look something like this:
