Extract just images from a pdf of a scanned document

Is is possible to extract just the images from a pdf of a scanned document that contains text and images (diagrams with overlapping text/captions)?

After applying "Edit PDF" to a 100 page document, my pdf has OCR applied to it, separating the text from the images. That part is good. But I need to export just the images. I have some luck opening the document in Photoshop (selecting the "just images button", but I get black boxes wherever text overlaps an diagram.

You can extract all images separately using Acrobat DC. Please follow these steps:

- Open file in Acrobat

- Go to Tools> Export PDF > Image > (select any image type like tiff)

- select checkbox 'Export all images' and Export

- Select folder and name on Save As dialog

It will extract all images of your document and save them separately.

*Note: If your document is a scanned document, please run Edit PDF tool on it.

Hope it will resolve your issue.

Thanks.

Not using Acrobat. You would need an image editing application (like Photoshop) to do it. I suggest you ask over at the PS forums.

Thanks, looks like there is no way to do this in Acrobat.

I managed to export the pdf pages as tiffs. I then used the slice tool to divide up the page into image areas. Then using "Save for Web" I managed to export all the slices in Batch mode.

The checkbox has been moved to the Tool: 'Export PDF', where you can choose an export format 'Image' and then select an export format for your images. The checkbox is right underneath that list.
