file cannot be opened because it has no pages

File was created and saved from a scan. I had uploaded a back up to Dropbox and neither file there or on my hard drive will open and receive the above message. File attached.

This file indeed does not have any Page objects in it. As such, it's an invalid PDF file and can't be opened.

Try creating it again from your scanner. If the issue persists, report it to the developers of the scanner software.

Scanned it two years ago and tossed the paper doc, so can't scan again. Along the lines that you and Bernd are suggesting, there may very well have been an issue with the scanner (HP) software then. I typically open the doc after scanning and saving but may not have with these.
