File stuck on flattening

Hi,

I have an end user who is attempting to print a .PDF file and continues to have issues. He has still not been able to successfully print this file in any capacity.

File size: 65MB

Operating system on laptop: Windows 10 22H2 (10.0.19045.4291)

Licence type for user: Acrobat Pro

Basically the steps that he takes are as follows:

- Launches the Acrobat app

- Opens the PDF in question

- Zooms into a particular section

- Attempts to print the document

- Changes the view to "Current View"

- Selects his printer

- Prints

When he attempts to print the file, it starts to "Flatten" but it hits "Flattening: 9%" and then freezes - the entire Acrobat client locks up, and you wind up having to kill the task in task manager.

If he leaves it to sit it never seems to progress.

I have had the user share the file with me and I was able to print it without any issues but I do note I am using Acrobat Reader and I'm also on Windows 11.

Apparently his colleagues can sometimes print it. I couldn't get a clear answer there.

I have also re-installed Acrobat (via Creative Cloud) but I have NOT re-installed C.C.

I can't see it being an issue with the PDF or with the application itself, but I have no idea what the issue is.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. I did try this and forgot to mention it. Unfortunately it removes a lot of the image/colour (not sure on the exact wording).

Turns out we managed to finally get it to print... I ran the PDF through an online program and it shrunk it from 65MB to 12MB and suddenly the user can print it.

Makes no sense to me!

Check the “print as image” flag on the advance print screen:
