Files not opening in tabs

I have the box checked.  I promise.  The setting to "Open documents as new tabs in the same window" is checked.  It has always been checked.  I use the "combine files" tool  almost every day.  But suddenly in the last month or so, it refuses to open as tabs.  Of course I've rebooted several times during that timeframe, so don't tell me to restart my computer.  Every file opens in a new window.  The only way I can make this work is by opening each file using the Open menu inside Adobe.  Please help.  This bug is driving me mad.  Version is Adobe Acrobat Pro 2023.003.20215

Or, alternately, make it so when I use "combine files" tool and select "add open files", it will identify all of the open files in all of the different windows.  That would accomplish the same goal for me, personally.

Hi @Naomi30549081654c

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Looking at the description above, I assume you have enabled Acrobat's New UI.

With the latest change in Acrobat, the option "Open documents as new tabs in the same window" has been removed from preferences.

To get this work, switch back to the Acrobat's old view.

  • Click on the hamburger icon in the upper left corner.
  • Click on Disable New Acrobat

Once done, you can now navigate to edit>preferences>General and enable this feature back

Please  do share your feedback about the new UI here: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Thanks,

Akanchha
