Fillable pdf not working on iPad or iPhone

Explorer ,
Dec 11, 2024 Dec 11, 2024

I created some fillable forms on a website that work fine on desktop computers, but does not work on an iPhone with the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed. Here's the page with links to the form: https://piboulefoundation.org/pi-boule-foundation-scholarship/

Can anyone give me a solution?

Thanks to those who know more than me,

Joe

In what way are they not working correctly, exactly?

Also, digital signature fields won't work on mobile devices.

The form comes up on the phone screen, but the fillable fields are not
activated. I tap where a cursor should appear and nothing happens.

Hi Community.

I have not seen any solution to the above issue that I am also encoutering.

I too have created a form on publicly available site. The form works as intended when accessed using a Windows browser. When the form is accessed via mobile device (I-Pad or an Android device), it just displays a static form (image of the form). None of the fillable fields allow any input, drop down boxes do not display any choices, Java script does not do anything. Only the Save form button saves the file on mobile device but when that is opened it just is static form (i.e., none of the fillable fields are active.)  I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader (today).

Can somebody from Adobe provide some suggestion/solution, which will be really appreciated?

OK. Here is indirect way of getting to that..

Go to   https://roads.maryland.gov

Customer Service and Maps

MAPS and GIS

Printed Maps and Docs

Hover mouse over third maps icon (County Maps) and select Order Printed Map.

This will open the Acrobat form.

Are you getting server timeout while accessing roads.maryland.gov or a link under that?  I could access it from my phone (while not on wifi). Let me try it in the evening from home..

Hi Bernd: did you try it again? Yesterday and tody I tried it (roads.maryland.gov) from home using various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Safari and Edge). I was able to get to the site.

I have attached the form here, that's not a problem.

When I open the form on iPad, using any browser (I tested only Safari, Chrome or Brave) a Read Only form shows up. I can save it and then when I open that one (using either Adobe Acrobat or Foxit), I can fill in the form correctly.

All I need is a confirmation that that's the only way. That is to say that the only way to use form in Apple/Mac ecosystem is to save it first and then open it. Unless I am missing something..

Thanks.

Hi @anil_B,

Hope you are doing well.

As Bernd rightly said, not all web browsers support PDF forms. Specially if the document has restricted on certain properties like changing the document, and document assembly.

Web browsers on mobile do not have the ability to make changes on an app level, and they in turn end up making changes directly to the document properties.

Keeping in mind the functionality difference between a desktop and a mobile device, opening forms in Acrobat would be the best solution to move forward.

Hope this adds further clarity.

Regards,
Souvik.
