Fillable PDF Security

Hello...new to fillable pdfs.   I created a document contract , but I received one back where the user added comments in random spots and ran lines through some of my text that did not apply to them.  I must be missing something when I save it...how do I only allow users to edit the fillable fields and NOT  edit any text or other parts of the document? Thanks!

It sounds as if you choose the "Commenting, filling in forms, etc."

Try the setting above it.

Search "Protect" in the tools search.  Select "Encrypt With Password".  Under "Permissions" select the check box "Restrict editing...."  Select your permissions from the "Changes Allowed" dropdown.  Click OK and save the document.  You can also create security policies, name them, and save them with a password so you only have to select the policy going forward.  This article outlines the process (with video and screenshots):

Thank you for your quick response!

So, I chose encrypt with password, was asked if I was sure if I wanted to change security on the document, clicked yes.  Under "permissions" clicked restrict editing and printing of document, a password will be required to change permissions...

Changes allowed drop down:  selected filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields.

When I click OK  it states Please either deselect the use a password to restrict printing and editing of the document in its security settings or enter the permissions password.

What am I missing?

Before you click OK, you have to enter a password in the password field below the dropdown.  Then you will be asked to confirm it.
