Font changing when creating PDF from Word

Hi,

When I create a PDF document from word, the font Times New Roman is getting changed to Times Roman.

Here I use the Acrobat Pro Dc for my conversion of word to PDF.

I found a similar blog Times New Roman in Word documents changes to TimesNewRomanPSMT in PDF documents (Create PDF)  explaining the problem.

Is there any solution to overcome this problem?

Can someone please help?

In Word go to the Acrobat ribbon and click on Preferences. Select the Conversion Settings profile you want to use and then click on Advanced Settings. Switch to the Fonts section and tick "Embed all fonts" (if it's not ticked already). If you want, save the profile under a new name and then use it when converting your file to a PDF.

To be clear, this isn't Adobe support. You can't talk to Adobe support because you aren't paying for an Adobe product.

I have met this Font changes probem, too  when I create PDF from Word. I checked my PDF option and I have checked the option"embedded all font" but it doesn't work. I found in the list below to embed font from C/Window/Fonts, some fonts are missing.

I don't know why users have to go to such extraordinary lengths to simply convert a Word Doc to PDF, but here is what I had to do after none of these suggestions worked for me. I had to upload the Word Doc to SharePoint, then open/download the Word Doc as a PDF. This made it look exactly like the original Word Doc. I hope this helps someone. And I wish both developers would consider user experience a bit more.

None of the given solutions were working for me and I FINALLY figured out how to make the fonts stay as a PDF. I am on a MacOS Monterey. I had the word document opened, then I went to "Word" on the top left toolbar, clicked "Preferences". Then I clicked "Save" under Output and Sharing. Then under Font Embedding I checkmarked "Embed fonts in the file". I hope this helps!

A bit late to the party on this one but I was having the same issue. Tried on my phone and 2 computers, finally came across this and the PRINT TO PDF option worked for me! Phew.

Hope this helps others

I have a word document with mostly Arial 10 point font. Both in Word > Options and in the PDF settings I've selected to embed fonts. When I convert the document to PDF the font size changes to 10.02 and sometime 9.96. I can not seem to fix this challenge. Like others below we have strict font sizing requirements. Any suggestions would be helpful

Hi @Valerie5CA4,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat!

You might want to change the below setting and check if it works:

In the Acrobat Ribbon, go to preferences-> Advanced Settings and change the below-

1. Go to General-> Toggle the dropdown for Object Level Compression to "Off."

2. Now, go to Fonts-> toggle the checkbox for Embed OpenType Fonts.

Also, you might want to Default Page Size if that aligns to your requirement.

Hope this helps.
