Font Problem when exporting a word file to acrobat

I am running a PC with what I belive Is the current Office version (not sure where I find the Word version but Acrobat Pro is 2023.003.20215).

When I export the doc some of the text doesn't convert to the correct font.

  • I have the embed all Fonts checkbox selected
  • This is a document I have convereted before without problems - I only edited soem text today.
  • The font substitution is not conistent - the font that is not converting correctly is Acumin Pro Condensed Semi-bold. In some places it shows up correctly and in other places the font is turned into Times-New Roman. Often intwo different heading cells in the same table.
  • I also use Acumin Pro in the same document and it has converted correctly in all places.

Any ideas????

    I have discovered the cause of the problem.

     

    Unbeknownst to me some of the table headers were set to Acumin Pro Condensed, and others were set to Acumin Pro Condensed Semibold. The text set to Acumin Pro Condensed Semibold is the text that converts to Times New Roman.

    Note that BOTH of these fonts are Activated fonts through Adobe Creative Cloud - they are not installed as regular fonts on my PC. And so is the regular Acumin Pro which also has no problems.

     

    If I go to the Fonts section of the Acrobat Preferences section in Word, in the list of fonts, none of the Acumin fonts show up - I am assuming because they are activated fonts.

    Nevertheless, the fact the it is only the Semibold font that doesn't convert properly leads me to belive there is some type of bug. And I have to point out again, that this never caused a problem when I previously updated the doc, the last time as recently as February of this year.

    I can fix the issue by using the Edit Tools in Acrobat to change the Font to the correct font and then change the tracking (which in Acrobat is referred to as A/V) to a value of 0. Butthat is obviously a pain to do - luckily the doc is not that long.

    Is there any update on this Gill Sans Nova SemiBold seems to have a simialr issue for us where it opens in acrobat editior as Semi Bold. Which of course is not correct and changing it to the actual SemiBold font gives odd results.

    Hi! I have a similar problem. Adobe got recently updated, so whenever I save from Word to PDF, my fonts are not respected. What can I check?

    Did you try the suggestion in this thread: use the Microsoft Save-As to create your PDF? See if the problem still exists.

    What happens when you use the built-in Microsoft save as PDF?

    I have tried both saving as a pdf in Word and importing the Word doc in Acrobat - same result.

    Also forgot to mention that when it does change the font, the tracking is shortened so that the letters are squished together (possibly becuase it is changing from a condensed font to a regular font).

    Just to clarify, it is happening with a SAVE-AS PDF and not using the Acrobat ribbon tab. If so, it is most likely a problem with the font. The Save-As is using Microsoft's PDF generation, not Adobe's. 

     

    Does Acrobat list the font as embedded?
