Hello,
Today for some reason all forms I have and all fields have become request for e-sign and will not let me type or earse anything previously typed into a field or type in blank field. It worked fine until today, and now every form I have is acting like this. Any ideas what is causing this?

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20687 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau... and see if that works.

It is Acrobat Pro (64). I ran a repair, switched to classic and that seemed to have fixed the issue.

In Prepare Form mode, click More, and then click on "Revert to Acrobat Form". In the future, do not tick the box that says "This document requires signatures" when creating the form, as that converts the file into an Adobe Sign form.

Any way you can be more specific?
There is no "More" button when clicking on Prepre a Form.
There is also no checkbox to tick at all when preparing a from. Let alone one that says "This document requires signatures".

Hi Pauldo,
Thank you for reaching out.
It seems that you have the new version of Acrobat. Please click on the three dots next to the title. Prepare a form in the left-hand tools pane. Then click on Remove the e-singing options. Check the screenshot below for reference.
Let us know if that helps.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Thanks for the update!
I had been to that section before but wasn't sure if you were talking about something else.
Just wanted to let everyone know that in our case there was no option to "Remove e-signing options" and the problem still persists to this day. Only work-a-round for us is to switch to the hand mode (drag n drop). Very, very annoying!

That's because this is a bug in the latest version of Acrobat and Reader, which I was not aware of when I posted my original reply.

This did not work for me. Repaired installation, switched to Classic, took out Preferences folder, still defaults to wanting a signature in every field - UNLESS you go into signatures mode. This caused a huge amount of disruption to a meeting this morning. Please can you address as soon as possible.

Completely agree. None of these fixes above have resolved the issue. Please advise.

I did all the steps above and my fields were still switching to esignatures. I did revert back to the old version. Here is what I did and it actually worked. Hope it helps.
Go to Edit - Preferences - Signatures and click on More next to Verification, and then tick off the "Verify signatures when the document is opened' box.

THIS IS NOT SOLVED!! This work around does not work for Mac. We have uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked okay for 1 day and now it is back. We cannot keep uninstalling and reinstalling the software each day. That is absurd!!
@adobe you need to fix this!!

The workaround I found running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1 was to go into "e-sign" menu and then use "select text" arrow to change the form field information. Otherwise, it recognized all form fields as signature only fields. But agree, it's really absurd!

Hi sodium-light and InfoRR,
Thank you for reaching out and reporting this issue.
Please check and let us know if the issue occurs with all the PDFs. Did you start experiencing this behavior after the recent update? Have you ever experienced this behavior before?
It would be helpful if you could share the PDF form with the issue and the screen recording of the steps you take to fill out the form. Also, share the Acrobat and OS versions currently in use.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

I'm having the same problem. Just created a form in Acrobat Pro on the Mac. Lastest update. The fields cannot be filled out without it going to an e-signature interface. See (1) with icons above field with the A grayed out, (2) once I select the e-signature icon, this message comes up, then (3) this interface appears.

Started happening for me using a file I use multiple times a day after upgrading to macOS 14.4.1 --I know it's not a file issue.
