Form not accepting signature

I've created a fillable PDF from a form. It has two signature fields. When someone tries to fill out the signature, the form does nothing. According to the client, when they attempt to fill in the signature it "is telling us to download an unsupported program to make a signature. After doing this, when trying to sign it goes automatically to save and then nothing happens".

I can fill the form -including signature - without issue, but I have the full Acrobat program, not just the Reader, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I've checked the security settings. I'm not sure what else to look at. Thanks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I should have clarified that this applies mostly to forms with a required signature. I can add a submit button to send the form to a recipient, but do they still have to save the form to their computer first to sign it? Thanks.

Hi nicolel21280547 ,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

Thank you for the information above. In that case, you may use the request signature feature in Acrobat. That is the only option where you can send the document for signature, and the user can open, fill out, and submit the document. It will not ask the recipient to save the document. If you would like more information, please refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/4n2xOLz

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Hi nicolel21280547,

Thank you for reaching out.

We checked the form you shared, and it is working fine. The form will work the same way in Acrobat Reader.

Please confirm how the clients are opening the PDF form. Could you share the screenshot of the message asking to download the PDF? That will help us understand the issue and share the correct information.

Once the client adds a signature, the file needs to be saved. It can be saved in the exact location by overriding the existing file or as a signed copy of the original file in a new location. For more information on filling the PDF forms, refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/456hmn6

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions or need help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Thank you for the information. For their own reasons, the client now says they do not want the person filling the form to save it to their computer. Is there a way - or a service available - where fillable PDFs may be hosted and submitted? I've not had to do this before. Some of the PDFs the client wants to use are official forms which cannot be converted to an html-based form, they have to remain as structured in the PDF. I am not certain what is the best method to do this to capture the filled fields. Any advice appreciated.
