Format for embedding video in PPT / PDF

hello, 

I have a video on Vimeo that I wanted to embed into a PDF'd powerpoint presentation. I know how to embed the video from my hard drive but it's too large of a file and makes sharing the PDF (via email) impossible. When I try to embed the vimeo URL I get the following reply:

Is there a reason I can't do this on Vimeo and is there another video hosting site that will work better?
