Fujitsu fi-5530C Scanner Drivers

I have had an older Fujitsu scanner which worked brilliantly with Adobe for the last few years.  However; now that we have Adobe Acrobat DC, the scanner dies as soon as it finishes scanning documents (prior to saving them).  I have contacted Fujitsu about drivers to no avail, but was hoping that Adobe might release a version with drivers for scanners which previously worked. 

Looking for anything that can salvage this problem.
