Having to log into your account just to view a pdf

All of a sudden, I have to sign in to my account to open a pdf file? seriously? I see this topic has posted before, but it's the first time I'm seeing it - AND all my other Adobe apps open without this nonsense.
I just tried to open my resume and I had to log on just to view it -wtf?!  Now does the person I'm sending it to also have to log into an account - I thought THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF PDF, that it didn't matter if you had the app or not, you could share file. What is going on?
If I just deleted Acrobat from my downloads, or deleted my account, what would happen? How would you view a pdf then?

No, that's not right. You always need an application to view a file. Many such applications come bundled with the OS, but it doesn't have to be the case. Without an app that can display PDF files, you can't open one, and it was never the intention that you could.

You should be able to view the file in the free Adobe Reader, even without logging in (unless something changed recently). What happens when you try to do that?

yes, of course you need at least the Reader, sorry that I was unclear. I was surprised and frustrated when all this started to happen and after years of using these products, I really don't know why I have to be logged in everytime I open an Adobe product. This doesn't happen with my MS Office subscriptions. I think Adobe could be doing a better job at this. At least give us a head's up - no notice, so again, surprising.

Hi @KTA6

Apologies for the trouble you had using Acrobat. Please note that Adobe Reader does not mandate users to log in to view PDFs. It might prompt for the sign in dialog to login and use cloud features but you can ignore the dialog and continue with the PDF.

Please confirm if you are not able to continue unless you log in to the app.

Regards

Ravi
