Having trouble "batching/combining" multiple PDFs into a single PDF file using Acrobat DC ...

Hoping someone on this forum can assist with using Acrobat DC to create one PDF batched from 10 individual PDFs. I am using the “Combine Files” script available from the “File/Create” menu. The issue I experience is the length of time it is taking to process 10 PDF files (approx. 1,500 single page letters). The letter are mostly text with a jpeg signature at the bottom.
I was surprised that it is taking me close to one hour to batch these files using Acrobat DC. Whereas, using the same files on a machine with Acrobat XI it is taking about 60 seconds. Can you provide me with some advice on why this would take so much longer using Acrobat DC?
FWIW, the Acrobat DC machine is running Windows 10 Enterprise and the Acrobat XI machine is running Windows 7 Enterprise. If it is of any help the original ten PDFs were mail merged using Microsoft Word 2016 on the Windows 10 machine.
