Question

hiding a pdf in another pdf

Is there any way of having a pdf hidden within a pdf that opens up on the press of a button/action? I did read something about layers and tried this but couldnt seem to get it to work.

Are there any alternatives or workarounds for this? I dont really want to hyperlink to another place, rather have the main doc, with 'attachments' as a standalone thing.

My intended aim is for a user to be able to read through a document and have access to further info but not for it to be immediately visable on screen. for e.g. a crossword which has the solutions open on a button click and also a (single page) user guide that can have further instructions, if and when required.....ideally.

Not sure if this is possible?

Thanks

You can also attach the second PDF to the first one and then open it using a link. It's not really hidden because you can see it in the Attachments panel, but the same goes for layers...

Yes, On the left side of the Acrobat window are a set of Panels. One of these is the "Layers" panel. You can also get to it from the "View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Layers" menu item.  Use this to add a PDF page (or image file) as a layer on top of an existing PDF page in the document.  Then use the "Show/Hide Layer" action on the MouseUP of radio buttons to show and hide the layer.

Hi,

sorry to be a pain but i just cant seem to get this to work for me - im obviously doing something wrong.

Ive finished designing the document i want to use. Its 2 separate pdf pages. What i want is for users to open up the pdf, initially showing page 1, and then when they click on an area, page 2 becomes visible.

Ive tried adding a link to page 1 using the 'edit pdf' tool and selecting 'custom link' and then execute a menu item and selecting 'set layer visibility' and then adding page 2 via the 'import as layer' option on the left and then selecting page 2 (as create new layer, as the only option not greyed out) and have it 'appear in front of page'. The layer is subsequently visible and the default state is 'on' and the initial state is 'visible when on'.

Ive tried different permutations of visible/hidden but cant seem to get it to work.

Ive also tried another option with adding a radio button but have had no success with this either.

Please dont hesitate to ask me to clarify any actions ive done, in case ive described them incorrectly.

Many thanks in advance
